Today we’d like to introduce you to Vasjan Zisi
Hi Vasjan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Vasjan Zisi a.k.a known as Vasjan/ Vas. I’m a club and music promoter, event planner, A&R and artist originally from Albania, born in Greece and moved to the USA in Boston when I was 19 years old, 6 years ago. I started first being a club promoter back home in Albania, when i was in high school I was the president of my school and my school teacher and I would throw events for the school students and thats how it all started. I was a popular kid in high school and than when i graduated I started selling tickets for different clubs in the city. In 2018 i got the wonderful news that we was going to move to the USA after 15 years of my aunt doing the papers for my family to get to the united states. Moving to a different continent was difficult because of language and exploring a new place. I started college right away at Northern Essex Community College and meanwhile i didn’t want to stop being a club promoter so i started popping out to different venues and events that was 18+ because i was only 19 at that time. After two years of networking with people, selling tickets for different venues and promoters I was able to build a great following and throw my first event with rapper “Ron Suno” which it was a great start of doing my own big events. At the meantime i graduated from NECC and transfered to one of the best finance schools “Bentley university” where i got my finance degree. So far i’ve collaborated and done big events with artists such as: Gucci Mane, Sean Paul, Da Baby, Megan thee stallion, G Herbo, Babyface Ray and many more. I started making music in 2021 and since than I’ve had incredible success on itunes hitting #1 with Lemonade and hitting #43 on the billboard dance charts. I’ve also became a grammy member in 2023 and started helping local artist get record label meetings with music labels such as Atlantic Records and Warner Records. Recently i got the opportunity to be a brand ambassador for brand such as Rockstar Original and Boohooman.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been pretty difficult. Some struggles include:
the language barrier- When i came to the USA i knew a little bit of english because Thank God i have taken some english classes in highschool back home in Albania because ive always wanted to come to the USA so i was preparing myself tor this moment. But when i got here it wasn’t easy to completely speak in English and understand the american accent and translate for your family because they didn;t know a word
Another struggle was being 19 because most of the clubs in the states are 21+ which that was also something new i had to addapt, because back home all clubs were all ages.
Mostly it was just hard being in a new place that you’ve never been before, with new people, new language and having to figure everything out for you and your family because they didn’t speak the language
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m mostly known for being a club and music promoter. I throw hip-hop events in different clubs in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. I book the venues, the djs, the headliners and bring the people in the club, I also work with a lot of local artist to give them an opportunity to open up and perform for bigger shows in the city. I’ve done events with big artist such as Megan thee stallion, Da baby, tory lanez, gucci mane, g herbo, kyle richh, sean paul, lola brooke, tee grizzley, babyface ray and many more. I’m most proud of everything I have accomplished in a completely different country in a short period of time ,I’m proud of all the events i have done, I’m proud of all the perfromance i have done in big venues and my music succes, I’m proud of being a grammy member, I’m proud of winning promoter of the year for 4 years in a row, I’m proud of the network that I have gained in these years and the experience dealing with different people. I’m also proud for having the best family in the world because they have always supported me and push me to do better.
What sets me apart from others it the connection I have with God, my faith and determination to achieve what I want in life and the hard work.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love collaborating with local massachusetts instagram blogs such as: @hiphop_newengland and @bostonculture.
I mostly get inspired from success or seeing other people succeed in what they do. When I see something dope that makes me think to do something even better, or to push myself even farther to be the best in what I do and on top of my game
